IDF back in northern Gaza
Thai worker wounded in Kassam attack
By Ryan Jones
July 26, 2006
Fifty Israeli tanks, backed by infantry and helicopter gunships, moved into northern Gaza overnight and attacked a number of Hamas terrorist cells.
At least one Hamas member was killed while attempting to launch a Kassam rocket into southern Israel.
The incursion force also moved into Palestinian Authority-controlled towns, attacking several building where Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists were believed to be hiding. Civilian residents were warned to vacate the area prior to the operation.
Israeli aircraft also bombed the offices of a newly-formed PA Hamas-led security force in Gaza City.
The latest move into Gaza came in response to ongoing Kassam fire from the coastal strip, which moderately wounded a Thai worker at a Jewish community in the Western Negev late Tuesday night.
The overall offensive against the Gaza-based terrorist infrastructure began exactly one month ago, when Hamas and its allies attacked an IDF tank just outside southern Gaza, killing two soldiers and abducting 19-year-old Corporal Gilad Shalit.
