Lebanon Druze leader: Only a Palestinian state will secure regional peace
Source: Ha'aretz
September 03, 2006
Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt believes that peace will only come to the Middle East if Israel helps to bring about the creation of a Palestinian state on the Jews' historic homeland.
By adopting this position, Jumblatt chooses to ignore the historic and religious dimensions of the Arab-Israeli conflict. According to Islam, no Muslim may make peace with or allow the continued existence of a sovereign Jewish state anywhere in Eretz Israel.
The leftist Israeli daily Ha'aretz goes on to cite Jumblatt as saying that the Jewish state has to learn "that brute force [can] achieve nothing."
Israel has never used brute force against Lebanon or any other Arab state. The IDF is known for waging war in a humanitarian fashion, frequently warning of where it intends to strike before it does so.
As honorable as this practise may be, it has cost more Israelis their lives and insured that Israel never wins its wars.
