Olmert denies reports of impending prisoner swap

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert Monday told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that he had no knowledge of negotiations for a prisoner swap that would see IDF Corporal Gilad Shalit freed by Gaza terrorists.

Reports in the Arab press over the past week have insisted a deal is in the making under which Israel will release up to 1,400 security prisoners in return for Shalit.
