Israel ready to talk with Abbas without preconditions

The Olmert government Monday said it was ready to resume peace negotiations with PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas without preconditions - like first putting an end to anti-Jewish terrorism.

This despite the fact that during his election campaign, Olmert repeatedly declared there was no true peace partner on the "Palestinian" side, necessitating a unilateral action by Israel.
