Arafat?s Fatah looks to kidnap, kill Jews

By Jerusalem Newswire Editorial Staff

Yasser Arafat’s Fatah will kidnap and mercilessly execute Israeli men, women and even children in revenge for the conviction of “Palestinian” terror boss Marwan Barghouti.

Fatah’s “military wing,” the Al Aqsa Brigades, issued the threat Sunday after the Tel Aviv District Court handed Barghouti five life sentences for his role in the terrorist murders of five Israeli Jews over the past three years.

Until his capture in 2002, Barghouti headed the Brigades and the Fatah Tanzim, and was directly subordinate to Arafat. Many touted him as the PLO chief’s natural successor.

Like every other “Palestinian” terror group, Arafat has for years refused to dismantle the Brigades, despite his Oslo Accord commitment to do so.

Unrepentant terror chief

From late 2000, Marwan Barghouti, a senior Fatah official and member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, headed the Tanzim and Al Aqsa Brigades terror groups in Judea and Samaria, the Tel Aviv District Court decided last month.

In April 2002, Israeli forces tracked Barghouti down and captured him near Ramallah.

On Sunday he was handed five consecutive life sentences for his role in the murder of five Israeli Jews, plus an additional 40 years for conspiracy to commit murder.

In actual fact, the terror groups headed by Barghouti slaughtered hundreds of Israeli Jews, but lack of evidence linking him to those murders spared him a more severe sentence.

Murderous threat

Following Sunday’s sentencing, the Al Aqsa Brigades, a “military wing” of the Arafat-headed Fatah organization, said it would kidnap and put to death Israeli men, women and children to avenge Barghouti.

"We call on all our cells in all the Palestine homeland [sic] to kidnap Israeli soldiers and civilians and execute them," the Brigades said in a statement faxed to Reuters.

Oslo violation

Under the terms of its various signed agreements with Israel, Arafat’s Palestinian Authority is obligated to disarm and dismantle groups such as the Brigades.

Compliance with that commitment has been refused for more than a decade.
