Lebanon won't release IDF soldiers
Source: Reuters
September 07, 2006
The Lebanese government Wednesday officially backed Hizb'allah in its refusal to unconditionally release two abducted IDF soldiers.
This despite the fact Beirut agreed to adhere to UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which in its opening paragraphs calls for the "immediate and unconditional" release of reservists Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser.
Hizb'allah wants Israel to free at least 1,000 jailed terrorists in return for the two men.
Hypocritically, Lebanon is on a daily basis complaining to the UN about alleged Israeli violations of the ceasefire.
