30,000 Israelis demand war commission

Tens of thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv Saturday evening to demand Prime Minister Ehud Olmert establish a full state commission of inquiry into his government's handling of the recent Lebanon war.
The crowd was addressed by a string of incensed speakers, who accused Olmert and his government of severely mismanaging the war effort against Hizb'allah, and all but abandoning the rocket-battered residents of northern Israel.
Olmert has refused to order a state commission of inquiry, preferring a series of smaller investigations that will not have the authority to recommend his or any other Cabinet minister's resignation.
