Gaza evacuees still don't have permanent homes
Source: Ha'aretz
September 25, 2006
The leaders of former Jewish communities in the Gaza Strip met at the weekend to discuss the government's failure to begin construction of permanent homes for the refugees created by the so-called "disengagement."
They noted that the government had set aside 18 locations for permanent neighborhoods to house the 8,000 Jews who were uprooted from Gaza, but that construction had not started at even one of the locations.
Thirteen months after being forcibly transferred, most of the evacuees are still living in trailer homes.
