Hamas-Fatah clashes in Gaza leave 1 dead

Armed clashes between Fatah-aligned Palestinian Authority policemen demanding their salaries and members of a special Hamas security force erupted in the Gaza Strip Sunday.
PA policemen have not been paid their wages since the Hamas government took over in March and the international community imposed economic sanctions on it for refusing to live in peace with Israel.
Hamas officials say the armed demonstrations by PA police loyal to Fatah are part of a plot by PLO and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas to overthrow the Hamas government.
During Sunday's clashes, Hamas operatives reportedly kidnapped several Fatah members in Gaza City. When the dust finally settled in the early afternoon, one person was announced dead and over 20 others wounded, including innocent bystanders.
As the fighting raged, Hamas reportedly called into action its terrorist wing to bolster its official government forces.
