Assad to Israel: Peace on our terms, or war
Source: The Jerusalem Post
October 03, 2006
Syrian dictator Bashar Assad Saturday reiterated his threat that Israel either make peace with his nation on its terms, or face the possibility of war.
Assad said that if Israel returned to the negotiating table, a final peace settlement could be reached within six months.
That, of course, assumes that negotiations would pick up where Syria claims they left off 10 years earlier. Damascus says that 10 years ago, Israel's leadership was prepared to surrender most of the Golan Heights to Syria.
