Top IDF general: We did not win Lebanon war
Source: Ynetnews

A top IDF general said just days before retiring that Israel did not emerge victorious from its war with Hizb'allah because of indecision by the nation's leadership.
Maj.-Gen. Yiftah Ron-Tal noted that the IDF had working plans for a full-scale invasion of Lebanon that would have brought the nation victory, but that for unexplained reasons the political echelon decided against that course of action.
He lamented the fact that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's self-appointed commission of inquiry is unlikely to investigate why those plans went unused.
General Ron-Tal also took the opportunity to blast the government's decision to use the army to uproot thousands of Jews from Gaza last year, saying that it had involved the IDF in the deep rifts that are tearing Israeli society apart.
