Olmert to Rice: First Shalit, then prisoners
Source: Ynetnews
October 05, 2006
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told visiting US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Wednesday that Israel will not free "Palestinian" prisoners until abducted IDF soldier Gilad Shalit is released.
Olmert said that for Israel to make such a gesture toward PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas, as the US has requested, prior to Shalit being released would encourage the "Palestinians" to kidnap even more Israelis.
Israel's security forces are on high alert during the Sukkot holiday season amid intelligence warnings of terrorist plans to abduct Israelis, as well as carry out "suicide" bombings and shooting attacks.
