Abbas hints at elections, Hamas arming

PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas announced Wednesday that unity government talks between his Fatah faction and the ruling Hamas terrorist organization have reached a dead end.
Abbas indicated that he may soon use his authority as Palestinian Authority chairman to dissolve the government and initiate early elections.
Hamas warned that such a move would result in full civil war in the "Palestinian"-controlled territories. The group is arming more of its supporters in preparation.
Abbas accuses Hamas of imposing undue hardships on the Palestinian Arabs by refusing to publicly recognize Israel and thus end the Western economic embargo.
Hamas says Abbas is working on behalf of Israel and the US.
