Rice says economic boycott of PA to continue

With Hamas and Abbas' Fatah engaged in a bloody power struggle likely to result in the toppling of the Hamas government, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Thursday said Western economic sanctions on the PA were clearly working.

She told Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni that the sanctions will remain in place until Hamas either recogizes Israel's right to exist, or is ousted from power.

Nevertheless, Rice pressed Israel to loosen its own restrictions against the "Palestinians."
