'Palestinians' riot at Jerusalem checkpoints
Source: Ha'aretz
October 13, 2006
Hundreds of Palestinian Arabs hurled rocks and glass bottles at Israeli police manning four checkpoints on the outskirts of Jerusalem Friday.
The violent disturbances were a reaction to Israel's restrictions on "Palestinians" wishing to participate in Friday prayers atop Jerusalem's Temple Mount. Israel is not allowing "Palestinian" men under the age of 40 to enter the city. There are no restrictions on Israeli Arabs.
The measure was made necessary amid fears that younger, more violent Palestinian Arabs would attack the thousands of Jews marking Sukkot at the Western Wall.
Such aggression has occurred on numerous occassions in the past.
