Rocket attack plunges Sderot into darkness

"Palestinian" terrorists operating out of the Gaza Strip fired a Kassam rocket at the Israeli town of Sderot Thursday evening, scoring a direct hit on a central city block and plunging surrounding neighborhoods into darkness.
At first, dozens of residents gathered in the streets to protest the government's failure to adequately defend them, but were quickly ordered back into their homes after officials discovered that the loss of electrical power had disabled Sderot's early warning system.
Defense officials say the only way to stop the Kassams is to launch a large-scale ground invasion of the Gaza Strip, but the government of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has resisted pressure to do so amid political concerns. It is believed that such an operation will not be ordered until a larger number of Israelis are killed by the rockets.
