Pro-Israeli Muslim editor beaten in Bangladesh

A Muslim Bangladeshi journalist who today stands trial for trying to promote peace and understanding between Muslims and Israel, and who faces the death penalty if found guilty, has been attacked in his newspaper office by a Muslim mob who called him an "agent of the Jews."

Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, editor of the weekly English-language Daily Blitz had his ankle broken when a crowd attacked him in his newspaper offices.

The attackers allegedly included senior figures from the ruling Bangladeshi National Party (BNP).

Police reportdly refused to permit Choudhury to file complaints against his attackers.
