Prayer for Israeli MK suffering from cancer

By Stan Goodenough
October 27, 2006

Member of Knesset Dr. Yuri Shtern, who co-chairs the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus and has been undergoing treatment for cancer, this week sent out a petition for prayer from Jews and Christians.

A number of months ago emails were circulated around the world worshippers in synagogues and churches to pray for Shtern's healing.

After two rounds of chemotherapy, the MK reported in July that there had been a dramatic change in his condition and that the cancer was in remission.

Two days ago, however, Shtern reported a deterioration in his health and again requsted prayer.

"I ask that you pray for me during these difficult times," he wrote.

"I strongly believe in the power of prayer. If we join together in these coming days and months, I know that He will hear us and spread over us the shelter of the shadow of his wings."

Shtern played a pivotal part in the establishment of the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus in January 2004.

Since then he has worked tirelessly to forge and strengthen bonds between Israel's lawmakers and Bible-believing Christians in countries around the world.

Hundreds of thousands of Christians have been touched and challeneged by the life of this passionate and committed man.

Many are expected to respond to his request for prayer.
