'Palestinian' rockets pound southern communities

By Ynetnews
October 29, 2006

Gaza-based "Palestinian" terrorists fire five rockets at towns in southern Israel Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

One struck the hothouses in the village of Netiv Ha'asarah. Another rocket hit a sheep farm outside the town of Sderot. Several animals were wounded and a number of people were treated for shock.

As the rockets were falling on Netiv Ha'asarah Saturday evening, hundreds of Israelis protested outside the Sderot home of Defense Minister Amir Peretz.

They accused the government of doing far too little to curb the rocket attacks.

The IDF has repeatedly recommended a full-scale ground invasion of Gaza as the only sure way to end the threat, but the government of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is believed to be reluctant to counter the perceived diplomatic benefits Israel received as a result of its Gaza withdrawal.

Sderot residents also believe that the fact that, miraculously, very few of their numbers have been wounded or killed by the thousands of "Palestinian" rockets fired this year has given the government little incentive to act.
