Anti-Semitism enters 'moderate opinion' in Europe

Acts of violence and expressions of hatred against Jews in Europe have more than doubled since last summer's Lebanon war, according to a disturbing survey conducted by the European Jewish Congress.
Virulent statements by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad questioning the veracity of the Nazi Holocaust and advocating Israel's destruction also appear to be contributing to the worrying trend.
Tel Aviv University Professor Dina Porat told participants in a gathering of the World Jewish Congress in Paris on Sunday that the report indicates that for the first time since World War II, anti-Semitism has "entered moderate opinion" in mainstream Europe.
