A group of Israeli students were attacked by a metro inspector in Budapest, Hungary on Saturday after they were heard speaking in Hebrew.
Itai Lavi, 28, a medical student living in Budapest, said the man became irate and even physically violent after discovering that the Jews were speaking in their mother tongue.
Lavi said that more worrying than the one man's outburst was that none of the people passing by bothered to say or do anything.
"Everyone stopped and looked at us, but nobody did anything. Nobody helped, or asked why, or thought something was wrong. This is what is worrying."
The Jewish Agency has noted a sharp rise in anti-Semitism throughout Europe, but especially in the nations of Eastern Europe.
