Israel seeks way to stop Tutu Israel-bashing mission

South African archbishop Desmond Tutu is poised to enter the Gaza Strip on a "fact finding" mission whose outcome - yet another international condemnation of Israel - has already been decided.
Israel, which initially said it would not stop the UN's specially-appointed envoy from visiting Gaza, though it would not cooperate with him, is now considering denying him and his delegation visas after all.
Tutu's brief is to bypass the Israeli investigation into an IDF misfired artillery shelling last month that saw 20 Arab civilians killed as Israel went after rocket firing terrorists.
The cleric, who like the late Yasser Arafat was given special international status by the Nobel Peace Prize committee, is openly anti-Israel.
He has compared Israeli government policies to those implemented by the apartheid regimes in South Africa.
