Eilat next on Arab list of territorial demands

By Stan Goodenough
December 23, 2006

The Egyptian parliament spent two days this past week hotly arguing over whether the Red Sea resort of Eilat belongs to Egypt, or to the Palestinian Arabs.

As reported exclusively on israelinsider.com Friday, the Arabs rowdily debating in Cairo simply ignored the fact that it was sovereign Israeli territory they were fighting over.

The Islamic Arab world regards any and every part of the Land of Israel as having been stolen by the Jews, and repeatedly and resolutely vow to take it all back.

Whether this land theft is carried out militarily, through “peace talks” or under the auspices of the United Nations does not overly concern the Arab world; only that they ultimately get “back” every bit of land.

Israeli and foreign proponents of the land-for-peace process insist that, if discussed in an “open and honest” manner, all land disputes between the Arabs and Jews can be settled through treaties and compromise.

What right-thinking Israelis and their supporters know from bitter and repeated experience, however, is that the Arab quest to conquer Israel has always proceeded on two tracks: as far as possible through negotiations and, when Israel stalls, terrorism and war are employed to “coax” the Jews back to the table.

States israelinsider: “Now that Gaza has been handed over to Palestinian control, Arab states, particularly Egypt, are looking to the next chunk of Israel to dispute: Eilat.”
