‘IDF unable to stop Kassams’

Just as they failed to put a stop to the Hizb’allah’s firing of Katyusha rockets on Israeli population centers in the north of the country last July, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are proving incapable of stopping the “Palestinians’” firing of Kassam rockets on Israeli targets in the south.

This “impotence” is believed to be encouraging the Arabs in their conviction that they are able to stymie one of the mightiest armies on earth.

In a report run Sunday, a senior IDF officer was cited as telling The Jerusalem Post that last Friday’s firing of nine missiles at Sderot, Ashkelon and the Negev, and which failed to see a military response, underscored Israel’s difficulty in countering the attacks.

The rocket rain came less than 48 hours after Prime Minister Ehud Olmert agreed to allow the IDF to use pinpoint strikes at Kassam-launching crews, while insisting that Israel would continue to honor its one-sided ceasefire.

This means that the IDF cannot return to the practice of shelling sites from which the Kassams are launched, leaving the terrorists to move around freely inside villages in those areas.
