Egypt: 'Road Map' dead; sends new plan to White House

President Hosni Mubarak is trying to ensure that Egypt plays a pivotal part in the quest for Israeli-"Palestinian" peace.
After declaring the universally-supported Quartet's "Road Map" plan a "failure," Mubarak sent a new plan to the White House for consideration.
The Egyptian plans to discuss his proposal with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Monday, according to a spokesman for Mubarak.
Rice was Sunday visiting with Israeli and Palestinian Authority officials in Israel.
She said she had not brought any new plans with her to the region, but wanted to explore ways of getting the stalled land-for-peace process moving again.
Egypt clearly has some suggestions to help her along.
