Threat of ?Palestinian? terror on the rise

By Jerusalem Newswire Editorial Staff
July 22, 2004

The relatively low number of successful “Palestinian” terror attacks of late does not mean Israel’s Oslo “peace” partners have given up on their efforts to murder as many of the nation’s Jews as possible, security officials reported Thursday.

Israel’s security forces are currently dealing with 57 daily terror warnings - up from 30-35 daily alerts last month - The Jerusalem Post quoted officials as saying.

In particular, officials noted the rise in threats emanating from the biblical Samarian town of Shechem. Security forces operating in Shechem have captured more than 20 “suicide” bomb vests since the start of 2004.

On Thursday morning, a surprise IDF military roadblock near Shechem was responsible for thwarting a planned “Palestinian” homicide bombing from being perpetrated in the coastal town of Haifa.

Troops manning the roadblock said an Arab taxi suddenly turned and attempted to speed away in the opposite direction after realizing it was about to encounter Israeli soldiers.

Two of the vehicle’s occupants jumped out and fled the scene on foot, dropping a large bag as they did. A 44-pound explosive vest was found inside and safely detonated.

Israel’s allies in Washington want the Jewish state to stop erecting roadblocks in “Palestinian” areas, as they present an inconvenience to the local Arab population.

The Palestinian Arabs’ low success rate in carrying out terror attacks against Israel’s Jews has been attributed to the placement of roadblocks, the building of the security fence, and IDF anti-terror military operations – all methods condemned by the West when used by Israel against the “Palestinians.”
