Israel's annual Poverty Report published Thursday says one out of every four Israelis lives below the poverty line.
Thirty-five percent of the country's children live in poverty.
In total, 1.6 million Israelis, or 404,000 families, are trapped in these conditions.
Relative to recent years, the number has stabilized and, in some sectors, is decreasing.
The government is being called on to intitiate programs to further meet the need.
