US struggles with cross-border explosives smuggling in Iraq

Months after pressuring Israel to relinquish control of the Gaza-Sinai border - opening the way for large-scale weapons and explosives smuggling into the Strip - the United States is struggling to stop bomb-making materials being smuggled from Iran into Iraq.
The US war effort in Iraq has largely been bogged down as a result of mass slaughter carried out by insurgents who bring their explosives in across the long frontier with ancient Persia.
According to reports in the American media Wednesday, the Pentagon is considering ordering the more forceful use of warplanes along the border.
