Israel won't halt Old City renovations

Israeli Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter vowed on Sunday that rioting Muslims would not prevent Israel from carrying out minor renovation work on a collapsed earthen ramp leading to the one Temple Mount gate available to Jews and Christians.
Touring the site of the work with Israel Radio correspondents, Dichter pointed out that the renovations were clearly taking place far from the Muslim shrines atop the Mount, and posed absolutely no threat to them.
Nevertheless, local and regional Muslim leaders are using the affair to incite violence against Israel. They say Israel is trying to harm the mosques currently occupying the holiest site in the world to Jews and many Christians.
