Rice, Livni cling to two-state solution

There is no substitute for a two-state-solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict, and both US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni are more committed than ever to its realization.
So stated the two women Saturday, just minutes after Rice had flown into Israel on yet another effort to kick-start the stalled land-for-peace process.
The Bush administration continues to pour excessive quantities of foreign-policy capital into playing midwife to the birthing of "Palestine."
Rice is scheduled to hold a three-way meeting with PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Said the secretary: "I'm looking forward to the tri-lateral meeting ... We would like for the parties...to acknowledge international agreements based on a two state solution."
