IDF: Hizb'allah back to full strength
By Ryan Jones
February 19, 2007
IDF officials who testified before the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Monday said that Hizb'allah has regained its full military strength following last summer's war in Lebanon.
That feat has been accomplished in just seven months thanks to constant arms shipments via Syria, Ynet cited the officials as saying.
Israel's political leadership insists the war against Hizb'allah was a success, and had effectively ended the group's ability to threatent the Jewish state from southern Lebanon.
But military officials have been warning for months that a future conflict with Hizb'allah and its Syrian overlords is just around the corner.
Committee member and Likud lawmaker Limor Livnat expressed serious concern over the discrepancies between the IDF's assessment regarding Hizb'allah's current strength and Defense Minister Amir Peretz's claims of victory.
