IDF chief: We may have to confront Hizb'allah to halt rearming
Source: Ha'aretz
February 21, 2007
New IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said during a military exercise on Wednesday that Israel may be forced to militarily halt Hizb'allah's efforts to rearm.
Ashkenazi made the statement in light of the international community's and Lebanon's failure to stop arms shipments to the terror group in violation of the terms of the ceasefire that ended last summer's war between Israel and Hizb'allah.
Ashkenazi went on, however, to reject recent assessments by IDF Military Intelligence that Hizb'allah has already managed to regain its pre-war strength.
