IDF ends Nablus raid, promises to return real soon
By Ryan Jones
February 27, 2007
IDF troops and armor began to pull out of the "Palestinian" town of Nablus (biblical Shechem) during the predawn hours on Tuesday.
The incursion force entered Nablus on Sunday in search of wanted terrorists from various "Palestinian" groups that openly use the town as a base of operations.
So prevalent is terrorism in Nablus that the town produced 117 out of 190 would-be "Palestinian" homicide bombers that targeted Israel in 2006.
During the most recent raid, the IDF managed to find and shut down four bomb-making factories and apprehend at least 30 suspected terrorists.
But much more remains to be done, and army officials cited by The Jerusalem Post said the IDF could be expected to return to Nablus in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority, which continues to violate signed peace agreements by not shutting down the Nablus terror machine itself, blasted Israel's efforts to protect its citizens as an "act of provocation."
