America in the Middle East

US, Iranian officials talk face-to-face in Iraq
Source: The Jerusalem Post

More political prostitution was evident in the Middle East Saturday as United States officials sat down to talk with Iranian and Syrian government representatives in a bid to bring stability to Iraq.
Iran might be defiantly pursuing its nuclear program, calling for Israel's destruction, denying the Holocaust and bad-mouthing the US, but that did not prevent the Americans from treating officials from those two countries like peers with whom Washington only has political differences.
Iraqi foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari said the US and Iranian delegations had held "direct exchanges and meetings and discussions."
