'Palestinians' say they executed BBC reporter

A "Palestinian" group distributed fliers in the Gaza Strip on Sunday claiming that it has executed abducted BBC reporter Alan Johnston.
Calling itself "The Battalions of Jihad and Tawheed in Palestine," and suspected of having ties to Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda, the group promised to release video footage of Johnston's brutal death in the coming days.
BBC and British Foreign Office officials said they were unable to confirm the claim at this time.
The fliers marked the first word from any "Palestinians" claiming to be connected to Johnston's abduction since he was snatched by masked gunmen outside his Gaza City apartment on March 12.
The U.N. continues to debate declaring Gaza an unsafe zone, and evacuating all foreign aid workers and journalists.
Since Israel's withdrawal from the area in 2005, the "Palestinians" have let Gaza descend into unprecedented lawlessness and anarchy.
