Leftist Israeli journalists agitate for outpost evacuation

A hard-left Israeli daily is using its influential press power to try and push Prime Minister Ehud Olmert into evacuating Jews from their homes in a number of small Judean and Samarian communities.

Ha’aretz Thursday ran a “report” claiming to cite “political sources” as pushing for the evacuation of what it called Jewish “illegal outposts” in the next few months.

When pushing the leftist agenda for the abandonment and surrender of Israel’s ancient heartland – something it has a long and shameful history of – the paper has never been averse to quoting “anonymous sources” that cannot be approached for verification or clarification, or even retraction.

A reporter for the paper wrote Friday that even though US President George W. Bush had decided to cut Olmert some slack and not insist on the evacuation just yet: “We are failing in our commitment to the Americans.”

The Ha’aretz reporter then “quoted” someone as saying that “even if [the White House is] also giving Olmert breathing space, we must carry out the operation.

“The American administration has been following the steps taken by the prime minister, and although it has not applied pressure, Israel's obligation has not been forgotten, the sources added.”
