An evangelical Christian group from the United States has reportedly "adopted" the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, a hospital that cares for many of Israel's victims of Arab terrorism.
According to a report in The Jerusalem Post Wednesday, representatives of the Joshua Fund visited the center for the first time last Sunday to cement the new relationship.
The fund plans to invest at least $1.2 million in humanitarian aid relief over the next year for Israeli, Lebanese and Palestinian families devastated by war and terrorism, the Post said.
"The visitors praised the hospital's treatment of violence victims and promised to help raise the funds needed to complete Barzilai's new hospitalization wing and purchase vital medical equipment."
On its website the Joshua Fund says it has launched a three-year humanitarian relief strategy that will endeavor to bless Israel with more than $100 million, and Israel's neighbors with more than $20 million in humanitarian relief.
