Israeli woman killed as 'suicide' terror returns

By Stan Goodenough
February 04, 2008

A young Israeli woman was killed and at least 38 other people were injured Monday when a Palestinian Arab took advantage of the felled Gaza-Sinai border to enter Israel and blow himself up in the southern city of Dimona.

According to news reports, an elite police officer at the scene shot and killed a second bomber before he could detonate his bomb belt.

A group attached to the Fatah faction of the PLO chaired by Palestinian Authority terror chief Mahmoud Abbas - the Olmert government's "peace partner" - claimed credit for the attack, which was the first successful "suicide" bombing in Israel in more than a year.

Other terrorist groups also took responsibility as the Palestinians vied among themselves for the kudos they would get for murdering Jews.

News of the bombing was greeted by the handing out of candies and other treats in the Gaza Strip in celebration.

Knesset members charged that the terrorist had been able to enter the country as a direct result of the Arabs' blowing up of the Gaza-Egypt border last week.

Egypt allowed hundreds of thousands of Arabs to cross backwards and forwards into the Sinai, from where Israel's intelligence services say they smuggled advanced weaponry into Gaza for future terrorism against the Jewish state.

In other terrorism Monday of the type that has become almost routine for Israel's Jews, Palestinians opened fire at an Israel car driving east of the Samarian city of Kalkilya Monday, damaging the car, and petrol bombs were thrown at an Israeli vehicle near the PA "capital" of Ramallah. No injuries were reported in either incident.

Four Kassam rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israeli population centers in the negev Monday morning.

And in other security news, Israeli Border Guard officials announced that a weapons cache including 500 machine gun bullets was discovered in an Israeli Arab town in the northern Galilee. No suspects had been arrested by "press time."

Many of Israel's Arab citizens sympathize with and support the Palestinian Arab terror war against their country.
