Hamas demands 1000 prisoners in exchange for 1 Israeli

The Hamas terrorist organization, which Israel continues to allow to operate and grow in the Gaza Strip, has demanded that the Jewish state hand over 1,000 Palestinian Arabs currently in Israeli jails.
In exchange, the organization said Tuesday, Hamas will release one Israeli Jew - IDF Corporal Gilad Schalit.
Schalit has been held incommunicado since his abduction near the Gaza Strip in 2006.
Israel has frequently demonstrated in the past its willingness to trade large numbers of captured Arab terrorists for one, two or three Israeli prisoners, and even for the bodies of dead Jews.
Because of this the Arabs - both Palestinian and Lebanese - have made kidnapping Israelis a major tactical weapon in their warfare against the Jewish state.
The dilemma facing Israel is whether so giving into the terrorists' demands will only serve to endanger more Israelis as Hamas and Hizb'allah realize the value of getting their hands on such human "goods."
