?Palestinians? wound 4 in mortar barrage

By Jerusalem Newswire Editorial Staff
December 10, 2004

While much of the Israeli and foreign media maintains the “Palestinian” terror war is all but over, the Jews of Gaza continue to endure a steady barrage of Arab artillery.

Friday’s dosage of mortar shells and Kassam rockets culminated in the wounding of four Israeli Jews, including a seven-year-old child.

The casualties resulted from a bombardment of the southern Gaza Jewish community of Neve Dekalim with eight mortar shells during a 20-minute period. It was not the only attack of the day.

The victims were all airlifted to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva, where at least one was listed in serious condition. Several other Israelis were treated for shock at the scene of the attack.

Earlier in the day, Palestinian Arab forces fired one rocket at Gaza’s Sufa crossing point and at least one other at an Israeli town in the adjacent Negev region.

A mortar shell was fired at another settlement in southern Gaza’s Katif Bloc during the morning hours.

Mortar and rocket attacks have become a daily fact of life for Gaza’s Jewish residents, some of whom accuse the Sharon government of doing too little to protect them in order to justify the prime minister’s retreat plan with increased casualties.
