Israel looks to head off Arab ?refugee? claims

Israel has reportedly launched a fresh initiative aimed at bringing about a final resolution to the purported Palestinian Arab “refugee crisis.”

The plan would see many of the so-called “refugees” permanently settled in new housing in Judea, Samaria, the Gaza Strip, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. Others would be absorbed into European countries.

Israel Radio reported Tuesday that Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom had already met with World Bank officials and representatives of PA-supporting nations to seek international financing for the project.

Jerusalem firmly rejects the PLO demand that the approximately four million “Palestinian” refugees be allowed to reclaim family homes inside sovereign Israel.

An influx of Arab immigrants on that scale would demographically destroy the Jewish state.

And that is just what the PLO is after, senior Fatah Central Committee member Sakher Habash admitted during a 1998 lecture at Shechem’s Al-Najah University.

“To us, the refugee issue is the winning card which means the end of the Israeli state,” Habash told the next generation of Palestinian Arab society.

Habash’s boss, PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas, has made it the focus of his regime to follow in Yasser Arafat’s footsteps by refusing to relinquish the “right of return” and its inevitable outcome for Israel.

“We promise you [Yasser Arafat] that our heart will not rest until we achieve the right of return for our people and end the tragic refugee issue,” Abbas said during a memorial parliamentary session for the deceased arch-terrorist last month.
