Israel could be destroyed - IDF

Israel’s military believes that the Jewish state faces an existential threat from Iran, and has made confronting that threat its primary focus for 2009.
This is according to Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, who handed the IDF’s work plan for this year to Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
Ynetnews reports that this is “the first time in years” that the existential threat to Israel has been so identified by the IDF.
The danger posed by Iran, “which consists of Tehran's nearly-obtained nuclear capabilities, existing ballistic aptitude and proven emissary-fighting, in the form of funding Hamas, Hizb’allah and other terror groups, clouds all of the military's other plans for the work year.”
Israel’s response will be increasing investment in its strategic aerial capabilities, especially the development of unmanned aerial vehicles, and the development and enhancing of its intelligence and communications systems.
The training of ground forces is also to be increased.
