Minister: No more land concessions

Israeli Health Minister Danny has called for a declaration by the Israeli government that there will be no further land concessions made by Israel after the withdrawal from Gaza and part of northern Samaria.

His demand came after US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday that the uprooting of Israelis from their homes in the Gaza Strip was not all the Bush administration expects from Israel.

Rice said that as far as the United States is concerned, the thousands of men, women and children being torn from their homes and livelihoods in this unprecedented act of forced removal is ?only the first step.?

While ?everyone empathizes with what the Israelis are facing, it cannot be Gaza only,? Rice said

Thousands of miles from the traumatic scenes unfolding in Gaza, the secretary chose to stress these expectations even as Jewish people throughout their homeland were watching scene after traumatic scene from the areas being forcefully evacuated by their security forces.

The US sees the implementation of the ?disengagement? plan as preparing the way for the realization of President George W. Bush?s ?two state solution.?
