No Jews on Temple Mount over Sukkot

By Ryan Jones
October 16, 2005

Unsurprisingly, Jews will be forbidden to ascend Jerusalem's Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site, over the week-long biblical Sukkot holiday amid fears the simple religious act would cause local Muslim Arabs to erupt in a frenzy of violence.

Jerusalem Police Chief Ilan Franco reminded Israel's High Court Sunday that the Muslims are currently marking their holy month of Ramadan, and warned that allowing Jews ? regarded by Muslims as ?infidels? ? within proximity of Allah's worshippers would be seen by the latter as a provocation.

The site of the Jews' ancient temples to the God of Israel is currently occupied by Islamic usurpers and their mosques.

Even during less controversial times, visiting Jews and Christians are not allowed to utter prayers atop the mount, even in private, as such actions would be seen by the Muslims as a desecration of their holy sites.

The Muslim?s demands grow increasingly stringent. In the last year they have demanded ? and the Israeli authorities have complied ? that no Jewish or Christian Bibles be even admitted to the site.

The latter chapters of the book of Ezekiel foretell a time when a temple to the God of Israel will again stand atop Mount Moriah, the divinely chosen hill upon which the Temple Mount complex sits.

Meanwhile, Israel's police forces remained on heightened alert Sunday ahead of Sukkot.

Palestinian Arab terrorists regularly take advantage of large public gatherings during Israel's biblical festivals as an opportunity to mass murder Jews.

There are currently dozens of general intelligence warnings of planned ?Palestinian? attacks over the coming week, Israel Radio reported.
