Terrorism

Three Jews murdered in Ramadan attacks

October 16, 2005

Arabs from PA leader Mahmoud Abbas? Fatah faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization fired on Jews standing at a hitch-hiking post in the Judean hills Sunday afternoon, killing a 14-year-old boy and two women in cold blood, and wounding five others, two of them seriously.

The terrorists, driving a white car, were believed to have escaped into nearby Bethlehem. Eye witnesses said they saw blood-soaked back packs scattered on the roadside at the scene.

Less than an hour later, Arabs opened fire on two youngsters walking by the roadside in Samaria, north of Jerusalem. One of the boys was wounded in the chest and thigh.

The attacks bring to 1079 the number of Jews killed by ?Palestinian? terrorists over the past five years.

Following the shootings, calls went out for the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his government. Many Israelis believe that the Sharon government is to blame for encouraging terrorism by its unilateral pullout from Gaza and northern Samaria last month.

The government?s recent ?goodwill gesture? which saw road blocks lifted in an effort to facilitate Arab travel during the Muslim holiday of Ramadan was also scored as having contributed to the killings.

Unidentified diplomatic sources in Jerusalem reportedly blamed Abbas for the attacks, saying his ?meek approach? to dealing with the terrorist groups in his areas of responsibility has contributed to the killings.
