PA calls liquidated terrorist 'innocent' victim

A top Islamic Jihad terror chief shot dead by IDF soldiers was only the latest ?innocent? victim of Israeli aggression, insisted top Palestinian Authority negotiator Saeb Erekat Wednesday.

?At a time when the Palestinian side is seeking to increase the frequency of meetings, in order to move forward in the peace process, the Israelis are invading Tulkarm and murdering innocent Palestinians,? Erekat told the PA-controlled Al-Ayyam daily newspaper.

Erekat was referring to the deaths, in a shootout with Israeli troops Monday, of Louie Sa'adi and a wanted Fatah terrorist accompanying him.

Far from being ?innocent,? Sa'adi was behind the bombings of the Stage Club in Tel Aviv in February and HaSharon Mall in Netanya in July.

At least 12 Israeli Jews have died and another 150 been wounded and maimed in attacks directed by Sa'adi.

IDF officials told Israel Radio Sa'adi was planning another attack in the coming days, and that his elimination ?saved many lives.?

The fact Sa'adi remained on the streets threatening the security of Israel's Jews was a blatant violation of the PA's signed peace agreements.

Nevertheless, Erekat insisted it was Israel's actions that would ?return us to the cycle of violence.?
