Analysis: Whitewashing the 'Palestinians'
By Ryan Jones

The West and especially Israel's ?allies? in Washington are notorious for imposing double standards on the Jewish state. Now it seems US President George W. Bush is doing the same to Hamas.
As far as the American seems to be concerned, Hamas remains the only practitioner of terror while all other ?Palestinians? are sitting patiently by waiting for peace and harmony with Israel.
Asked by Al Arabiya Monday if he would support the outcome of upcoming Palestinian Authority elections if Hamas were to win, Bush sidestepped the issue in his usual manner.
The Palestinian Arabs desire peace with Israel, the president said, and as such will overwhelmingly vote for the ?party...of peace? - Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah faction.
Furthermore, Bush insisted Abbas fully understands and appreciates that ?you can't have a political party that's, on the one hand, based on philosophy, on the other hand, based upon violence and use of force through arms.?
Unfortunately for the president, that definition fits Abbas' Fatah more than it does Hamas.
Since September 2000, the Tanzim and Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades ?military wings? of Fatah have been responsible for more attacks on Israeli Jews than any other terror group.
Earier this month, Palestinian Arabs in Gaza blamed the Brigades, not Hamas, for the ongoing state of anarchy there.
But it is not only Fatah that Bush has whitewashed as he plows ahead towards the birth of Palestine on ancient Jewish lands.
According to the leader of the free world, all ?Palestinians? outside of Hamas are ?peaceful, they really are peaceful.?
That assessment, of course, has been contradicted by every public opinion poll conducted among the general Palestinian Arab population for years. Consistently, a majority has supported terrorist aggression against the Jews, and credited such violence with gains such as Israel's withdrawal from Gaza.
Not only are the Palestinians not proving their peaceful nature through their actions, most of them are not even saying they want to stop killing Jews and live in peace.
The only Palestinian saying he wants peace is the one looking for American handouts - Abbas; and still his actions belie his true intentions.
