Abbas urges truce, won't disarm killers

Days after his ?foreign minister? reiterated the Palestinian Authority has no intention of disarming anti-Israeli terrorists, PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas urged killer groups such as Hamas to recommit to a temporary lull in their campaign to mass murder the Jews of Israel.

Speaking to the PA-controlled daily Al-Hayat last week, Nasser al-Kidwa said the Abbas regime would continue to violate its commitments to disarm and dismantle terrorist organizations dedicated to Israel's demise, and would instead work for a ?consolidation of arms? among the ?Palestinians.?

[Ed. Note ? Al Kidwa's position as ?foreign minister? is another violation of the so-called ?Oslo? Accords, which forbid the Palestinian Authority to conduct foreign relations. Like other PA violations, it has gone virtually unnoticed by the international community.]

In the meantime, Abbas would like the terror groups, including those associated with his own ruling Fatah faction, to extend the current terrorist ceasefire.

Middle East observers have lambasted the ceasefire as nothing more than a public relations stunt meant for international consumption, noting that the truce period has seen a continuation of daily attacks on Israelis including many murders.

?Anyone who commits acts of provocation against others, especially against Israel, should know that he is acting in an irresponsible way against the common interests of his homeland and his own people,? Abbas said during a ceremony in Gaza Saturday.

The terrorists' ongoing failure to comply with that request, however, is not expected to result in the kind of PA crackdown demanded by the Road Map peace plan.

The current ceasefire is due to expire at the end of this month, and both Hamas and Islamic Jihad have indicated they will not renew it, but rather plan to intensify efforts to slaughter Jewish men, women and children wherever they may be found.
