Bush nixes ?assurances? to Sharon

US President George W. Bush Thursday left open the options of one day flooding Israel with millions of “Palestinian” refugees and forcing the Jews to retreat to their indefensible pre-1967 borders.

Bush told Jordan’s King Abdullah II during their meeting in Washington that both Israel and the “Palestinians” must agree upon the solutions to all final settlement issues.

The desires of the “Palestinians” to demographically swallow Israel and to push the Jews out of as much of their biblical homeland as possible are well known.

But last month the president gave Prime Minister Ariel Sharon a letter ostensibly backing Israel’s rejection of a Palestinian Arab “right of return,” and the annexation of large Jewish settlement blocs in Judea and Samaria.

The letter was the cornerstone of Sharon’s campaign to uproot Jewish Gaza.

House of cards

For the past several weeks Sharon has been trumping the “achievement” of getting the US to finally back Israel’s opposition to the “right” of millions of supposed “Palestinian” refugees to flood the Jewish state.

Sharon also insisted the Bush administration had agreed that Israel could keep several “major population centers” located in Judea and Samaria.

And he told Israel this support would disappear if his plan to uproot the Jewish presence in Gaza were not implemented.

But Bush himself Thursday confirmed what US officials had been saying since last week – that Sharon was making a bigger deal of the president’s letter than was warranted.

"The US will not determine the results of the negotiations,” the president said following his meeting with Abdullah.

Bush promised the Jordanian monarch he would send a personal letter to “Palestinian” Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia reaffirming his position that all solutions must be agreed upon by both the Israelis and the Palestinian Arabs.

The “Palestinians” have long vowed to never relinquish their dream of flooding the Jewish state with Arab “refugees.”
