Wake up, Washington!
'Palestinians' support terror and terrorist regimes; deal with it

In its latest attempt to whitewash the Palestinian Arabs as an unfortunate peace-loving people, the US State Department Saturday insisted the general ?Palestinian? populace rejects Iranian and Syrian support for groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
?...the stated claims of the Iranians and Syrians as championing the Palestinian people are clearly bankrupt and hollow,? spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters.
He was reacting to a meeting between Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hamas and Jihad officials in Damascus a day earlier, during which Ahmadinejad expressed his support for ongoing efforts to eradicate Jewish life in the Land of Israel.
As proof McCormack cited comments by PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas calling on foreign regimes to halt funding of Hamas and Jihad.
How long can old Foggy Bottom continue to contradict reality before it realizes the absurdity of such remarks?
The simple truth is that Abbas is opposed to major foreign funding of Hamas and Jihad because both groups are now political rivals who will use those funds to steal mandates from Abbas' own Fatah faction.
If the venerable ?Palestinian? leader was really opposed to the Islamic parties' anti-Jewish terror campaign, he would have implemented the Palestinian Authority's decade-old commitment to disarm and dismantle such groups.
If Abbas were opposed to terrorism at all he would first disarm the ?military wings? of his own Fatah.
But he is not opposed to terrorism. He is opposed only to what he views as improper timing of some attacks.
Abbas has good reason to not oppose terrorism in general. Contrary to McCormack's assertions, the general ?Palestinian? public does back anti-Jewish terrorism and venerates groups such as Hamas ? every single public opinion poll over the past several years attests to that fact.
That is why officials in both Israel and the PA are now bracing themselves for a Hamas election victory later this week. Because a majority of ?Palestinian? voters are expected to cast their ballot for the killers.
And as for foreign regimes ? remember Saddam Hussein, anyone? The ?Palestinians? love that guy. He is worshipped like a god in Ramallah, Shechem, Jenin and Gaza.
There is no reason to believe they view Ahmadinejad or Bashar Assad with any less admiration.
America and the West insist they are helping to bring peace to the region, but in fact they are creating a major roadblock to peace by refusing to deal with reality.
Whitewashing the ?Palestinians? in order to get a piece of paper signed is not going to bring peace. Rather it will mean that instead of a local confrontation, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will become one between sovereign nations, which will attract the participation of other nations, leading to a regional conflagration that will make 1967 and 1973 seem like light skirmishes.
Such an explosion is going to happen one day anyway. But does the United States of America really want to live with the consequences of being a facilitator to such an assault on the Almighty's chosen?
